What is ACRYLIC?
The most common type of glue found on cold film or vinyl.
What are CO-POLYMERS?
Chemicals added to glue to LOWER the melt point. They give glue MORE stick, also make it clearer (glossier).
What is MELT TEMPERATURE?
The point at which the adhesive is best to be applied, this is NOT immediately when the glue clarifies. NOTE, temp. may be a range within which application may occur or a specific temperature.
What are NIP ROLLERS?
The point at which the heated rollers press together prior to ,during and after lamination occurs. On COLD laminators this applies to the front rollers (albeit) that they are cold.
What is POLYESTER?
The basic type of plastic that forms the strength of most THERMAL laminating films. Sometimes referred to as PET. Also can be found in many cold or PSA films.
What is PSA FILM?
Pressure Sensitive Adhesive, IF its cold film or vinyl and is to be adhered to something for display purposes, It's PSA. Can be added to Thermal film to provide a STICKY BACK, Which will be covered by a peel off release sheet that is removed AFTER laminating but prior to displaying at its final display point.
What is POLYETHYLENE?
Also called (PE), is a common adhesive most frequently found in thermal films. Appears cloudy then ultra clear when liquefied with heat, finally becomes a flexible solid when cooled down.
What is a SUBSTRATE?
The UNDER-LAYER of printed materials or a mounting board with a laminated poster, the poster is the Substrate as is the Board.
